1.the body of a dead person given the semblance of life, but mute and
will-less, by a supernatural force, usually for some evil purpose.
2. a person whose behavior or responses are wooden, listless, or seemingly rote; automaton.
As a popular demand, television portrays a picture of a dead body walking, urging to kill the living only to make them into a walking dead being. There is a sense of fear yet excitement as people watch movie after movie or episode after episode. The life of the dead seems so entertaining now a days. 5 year old talks about how cool zombies are and how he wants to be a zombie while shopping with his mother in the nearby grocery store. Radicals prepare for the zombie apocalypse adding to this craze for the dead.
Sadly as I read the definition and I look around in my generation, somehow, we walk amongst the dead. There are thousands of people walking around resembling life yet have no aspirations, no dreams, no will to do something more. Zombies! We walk among them everyday! They are those who lost hope for life, those whose dreams were killed and gave up on life itself. They are those who hate their jobs but go to work everyday because they feel they don't have a choice. They are those who were told their dreams were meaningless or impossible. Those who discourage the dreams of others and killing the life of the dreamer. Those who gave up on their dream for a more lucrative career. Those who look in the mirror and hate what they see.
We were all born with gifts, talents, potentials and most important, a purpose! We were not born to just walk around aimlessly nor listless. We were each given a task to make a difference.
The secret antidote that makes you immune to the zombie syndrome is to live your life for someone else. You see, television zombies are desperate, hungry, selfish maniacs who act only for themselves... Hmm sound familiar? We live in such a narcissistic culture that it's all about "ME", all about what "I" want or what makes "ME" feel good, and we forget to look around us. We miss out on the opportunity to give life to someone else rather than take it. We have the antidote, it's called serving others with love. Will you spread it, or just serve yourself?
Make a difference today!
